Inside the JR Tokyo Station ticket gates, on the B1 level of Gransta, KITADE TACOS Gransta Tokyo is a stand for grabbing proper tacos between journeys or on the way home from work. Its signature tacos are built around the rich, toasty flavor of corn tortillas made with 100% corn flour produced in Japan. The tortillas are warmed to order and filled with a range of options, including chicken, slow-cooked pork carnitas and savory beef suadero, making for a satisfying bite.

For a first visit, the “Three Tacos” set lets you compare chicken, pork and beef, while the “Tokyo Set” pairs a mini taco rice with a taco. You can choose whether to include cilantro and cheese, then vary the flavors as you eat with the mild avocado salsa and fiery hot chili salsa set out on the table. There are other ways to shape a meal around your appetite, too, from cheese-filled quesadillas and spicy taco rice on its own to options for vegetarians.

The drinks list includes Tecate Mexican beer, craft beer and cocktails with lime or mint, offering a refreshing counterpoint to the spicy food. With mostly counter seating and a casual atmosphere, it is an easy place to stop by on your own. Payment is entirely cashless, with credit cards and transport IC cards among the options, so have a payment method ready before stopping in between trains or ahead of a Shinkansen departure.
